Underfloor heating case study
Products: TileFix®-18 and SlimFix®-18
Our client was looking for a large underfloor heating system for an upcoming retrofit project. The system needed to be installed across two floors of a house, and also had to work efficiently with a mixture of floor coverings, including tiles, wood and carpet.
The plumber had used Continal Underfloor Heating previously, but never on a project of this size. He decided to approach us for a quote after being let down by his usual supplier, who was unable to provide the complete system he needed.
As well as the multiple floor coverings, the project was made even more complex by a restricted build-up height, which made many typical overfloor systems unsuitable without significant additional renovation work that the client wanted to avoid.
Our Technical Sales Adviser discussed the project at length, going over all the different floor finishes and technical requirements, and recommended our TileFix® and SlimFix® systems, both in the 18mm size, as the perfect choice.
The TileFix® system is an ultra-high strength, overfloor composite system that is typically installed over existing solid or timber deck floors. TileFix® combines an insulating layer and a tile bonding layer, and is ideal for whole-house renovation projects. Designed to accept a wide range of tiled floor coverings such as ceramic, porcelain, marble and stone, using a suitable tile adhesive, this low-profile, fast response system would be suitable for use throughout the whole house wherever a tile floor was being installed.
TileFix® was then combined with the SlimFix®-18 system, which is another product in Continal Underfloor Heating’s overfloor offer. SlimFix® is a low-profile, high-compressive strength composite panel with a heat-dissipation layer, which maximises heat output and temperature variance. It is designed to have wood and laminate floors laid directly on top, or carpets and vinyls when combined with a suitable cover board. Again, choosing the 18mm variant meant the plumber was able to keep the floor build-up height as low as possible, minimising disruption for the homeowner.
“It’s good to know that, at Continal Underfloor Heating, there is always someone at the end of the phone who can help us through even the more complex jobs. It’s great to work with a company that has a vast knowledge of underfloor heating and has a large selection of different solutions that can work with any project.”
After Continal Underfloor Heating was able to answer all his technical queries, and those of his client, the plumber went ahead and ordered the system, confident that he had chosen the correct supplier.
He was looking for a manufacturer he could trust to supply a complete system, which he could then install with confidence knowing that it was the right solution for the job.
